1. Master Your Computer

It is more than likely that a computer is one of the most important tools you use for work. If you relied on coworker help when things went wrong, you should not expect that to happen when you do not have any of your colleagues around you at home.

You will have to use the computer yourself. Sure, there is the option to call someone for help, but explaining how to use a device over the phone and in-person are two different things.

For example, if you use a MacBook at home, you may not be familiar with editing pdf files on mac or backing up client files using Time Machine. 

Thankfully, there are guides online that answer these and other computer-related questions. Even if you have to spend time learning new skills, show some patience and do it because using a computer poorly will lead to poor work performance.

2. Get Rid of Distractions

There are bound to be some distractions disrupting your workflow. If you live with other people, set boundaries and tell them that they should interrupt your work only if it is something important.

Smartphone notifications could be quite distracting as well. If you receive random pop-ups and have the urge to check them immediately, disable notifications.

4. Take Proper Breaks

Working remotely is already a problem for businesses that rely on employee efficiency because there are no supervisors who can provide encouragement. But it is not just encouragement. Some supervisors are also in charge of telling employees when they can and should take a break.

It is easy to lose track of time when you are working alone and get into your work so much that you become unaware of your surroundings. A few instances of such behavior is not the end of the world, but if you get in the habit of missing your breaks when you should take time, it will take a toll on your health.

Get away from the computer and relax when you can. Even if it is just for a few minutes, it is still enough to keep the productivity levels high throughout the day.

5. Stay in Touch With Others

Staying in touch with others is quite difficult during the pandemic. We cannot interact in person, and it is easy to grow apart even with some of the closest people.

Try to dedicate some time every day and chat with your friends, family, or coworkers. Such conversations will be a nice change of pace, and they ought to improve your mood, which will result in better overall productivity. 

6. Make the Most Out of Extra Free Time

Since you are working from home, there is no need to commute and spend time in a traffic jam. You may be tempted to lie in bed and get more rest, but picking a new hobby or learning new skills might be better for your well-being. Thus, if you have an extra hour or two, make the most out of that time because there might not be another opportunity like that in the future.
